Over 50 Rotarians and guests gathered together at Berkeley Lodge to enjoy some festive spirit

Over 50 Rotarians and guests gathered together at Berkeley Lodge to enjoy some festive spirit on Monday 14 December. With Geelong putting on one of its warm summer evenings, the evening commenced on the front verandah with drinks and finger food thus enabling all in attendance to mingle and enjoy each others company. During the early part of the evening musical entertainment was provided by six members of the Geelong West Brass Band playing Christmas carols.
Once seated in the main function room for dinner Rotarian David Dadds welcomed all in attendance. Not to let a great opportunity pass by to raise some funds for the club, David conducted a brief fines session, concentrating on those lucky members who had recently celebrated their birthday with the fines being collected by one of Santa's helpers. The club was lucky enough to have DG Jane Cox and Assistant DG Kathy Ryan in attendance for the evening with DG Jane providing all members with an update on Rotary activities. Highlight of the evening was the presentation to Daryl McLure of a Paul Harris Fellow with sapphire in recognition of his efforts over many years of organising the Book Fair which is the club's major fundraiser. Many members also brought along toys to be donated to the Bethany Giving Tree.
